Entrepreneur Spotlight #5: Meichi Phoon | Emcee Bridal & Emcee Couture
Hello you, welcome to The White Atelier!
It’s always been in our hearts and minds to do more than what we do on a daily basis. Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE our clients and designing beautifully handcrafted and comfortable shoes for all of them makes us super happy and fulfilled! But more than just business, we desire to also give back and add more value to our community- our beloved customers, social media fans and followers, friends and you, who have stumbled upon our humble little blog space here.
And so we have officially started our initiative by interviewing 10 inspiring female entrepreneurs from the local wedding industry in conjuction with International Women’s Day. These ladies come from different walks of life and all have different stories on how they have started and sustained their wedding businesses. You may even be familiar with most of their names!
We will be featuring all of their interviews here throughout the month of March, and we hope you’ll be blessed and inspired.
Entrepreneur Spotlight 5: Meichi Phoon
Founder of byMeichi, Designer of Emcee Bridal and Emcee Couture
Can you share with us a little about yourself and how you started your byMeichi journey?
I started sewing pieces for myself to wear almost 10 years ago since I was too petite to get cute outfits of the rack. When I put them up on blogspot, people starting to order them! That's how I started to create under Emcee Couture and we slowly expanded to bridesmaids and bridal wear as well under Emcee Bridal.
What keeps you going when you encounter tough times in your life and business?
My family and friends are my pillars of strength. When it gets tough, their reassurance and support really see me through and I am reminded of why I am doing what I am doing now.
What is the one value that you hold on to the most in your entrepreneurial journey?
Always create sincerely and everything else falls into place.
What is your favourite quote/motto in life and business?
"Fall seven times, get up eight."
Why do you think it’s important that women support women?
I think in these current times, women can be anything they want to be. No other people could understand what we are capable of as a woman, other than a woman herself.
Woman alone has power, collectively we have impact.
Are you proud to be a woman? If yes, why?
Yes! At this day and age, to know that we women contribute not only to a household but also significantly in society makes me feel proud.
To be able to juggle family at the same time to be able to provide and chase our own dreams- I am proud of what women are capable of.
One advice for every aspiring female entrepreneur.
Follow your passion, for that is how your work can be elevated from the ordinary and this gets you through difficult times.
