TWA Entrepreneur Spotlight #3: Tricia Lim & Evelyn Ng | Moments
Hello you, welcome to The White Atelier!
It’s always been in our hearts and minds to do more than what we do on a daily basis. Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE our clients and designing beautifully handcrafted and comfortable shoes for all of them makes us super happy and fulfilled! But more than just business, we desire to also give back and add more value to our community- our beloved customers, social media fans and followers, friends and you, who have stumbled upon our humble little blog space here.
And so we have officially started our initiative by interviewing 10 inspiring female entrepreneurs from the local wedding industry in conjuction with International Women’s Day. These ladies come from different walks of life and all have different stories on how they have started and sustained their wedding businesses. You may even be familiar with most of their names!
We will be featuring all of their interviews here throughout the month of March, and we hope you’ll be blessed and inspired.
Entrepreneur Spotlight #3: Tricia Lim & Evelyn Ng
Co-Founders of Moments, Wedding Planners, Coordinators, Mom of One and Two
Can you share with us a little about yourself and how you started your Moments journey?
Moments was founded by both Tricia and Evelyn. Coming from a business and law background respectively, we found our passion to promote love, laughter and happiness after having planned our own respective weddings. Corporate was never really our cup of tea but with the learning experience and skillsets picked up from our previous jobs, we learned to work under high pressure atmospheres, develop strong people relations and communication skills. With that, we learned to be well-organised and meticulous, always looking out for all the little things that matter to us in every wedding.
We started Moments because we loved the fact that we get to be married over and over and over again and to cross paths with all the interesting couples who can relax and enjoy their once in a lifetime knowing that everything is in good hands. Together, we managed to pull our skills and resources to make things work!
What keeps you going when you encounter tough times in your life and business?
We have known each other for approximately 8 years now. This business partnership is driven very much by passion and our transcendent bond of sisterhood (Yes, we are sisters in-law!). We are both very different individuals with lots of threads that tie us together. Yet, we can practically finish each other’s sentences, communicate with our eyes and we don’t have to worry about how we make each other feel. We were frank with each other from the very start and there is always plenty of openness, joy and we never failed to watch each other’s back which makes this partnership perfect in our opinion. We’re very supportive towards each other during good and bad times (e.g tough job, client’s complaints, etc.)
More importantly, we take pride in what we do. Every couple’s thank you note, great big hug and smile at the end of their day is what matters most to us. Nothing is more rewarding than journeying with two individuals from different walks of life through their once in a lifetime and when it ends, we know for sure that we have found a friend in them and their families. It’s always about the journey.
What is the one value that you hold on to the most in your entrepreneurial journey?
Be truthful and open towards our team members, our clients and amongst each other.
What is your favourite quote/motto in life and business?
“If it doesn’t kill you, it will make you stronger.”
Turn any negative energy that comes your way into a positive one! In Life and business, nothing is perfect, there will always be something that you wished you hadn’t done or could have done in a different manner to be better; There will always be ups and downs. But always remember to never give up, take every mistake as a learning curve, always strive to be better and treat every little success as a stepping stone to bigger dreams.
Why do you think it’s important that women support women?
It is very important indeed! We need to empower one another, be there for one another to keep us resilient and happy in today’s world of much turmoil. As individuals, it matters a lot to us individually if we are treated with respect, showered with loved, encouraged and motivated. As such, do it onto others and always remember, everyone has a story. Never judge.
Are you proud to be a woman? If yes, why?
Ooooh yessss! It is truly amazing how God in his grace has given us so much strength to be who we are today. Most of the time, I cannot even comprehend such ability!
We see strength not only in ourselves, but the many women around us. How as women we all have the ability to:
And, still find joy in their everyday living.
Each and every woman out there, no matter what the circumstances, deserves a good, good pat on their back! Always stay proud and keep your head held high!
One advice for every aspiring female entrepreneur.
No one but yourself is given the authority to dictate your future. This notion for living has brightened our lives in countless ways, and we carry it with us daily.
Keep it close to your heart and you will find yourself happier, less worried and be able to take on the world and be the positive difference that matters most today!
